Sam's Club expands prescription savings program

Sam’s Club announced on Thursday the launch of an expanded prescription savings program that allows "Plus" and "Business Plus" members to save money through new benefits.

New savings on generic prescriptions are now available in all Sam’s Club locations that house pharmacies. Some generic prescriptions are available free of charge or at the discounted rate of $4 or $10, in specified quantities.

“Sam’s Club is always looking for ways to help improve the health of our communities and provide exceptional value to our members,” Jill Turner-Mitchael, senior vice president of Sam’s Club Health and Wellness, said. “That’s why we created an extensive list of prescriptions to offer at substantial savings to our Plus and Business Plus members, especially those who are under or uninsured. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to making health care more accessible and affordable.”

The new benefits are part of Sam’s Club Extra Value Drug List, where "Plus" and "Business Plus" members also receive 10 to 30 percent savings on select brand-name medications.

As a result of the expanded savings program, five generic prescriptions at specifies quantities are available for free in 35 states, including Donepezil, Vitamin D 50,000IU, Pioglitazone, Finasteride and Escitalopram. More than 200 generic prescriptions are available for $4 in specified quantities, and more than 400 generic prescriptions are available for $10.
