Surescripts, PDR partner to expand CompletEPA program

Surescripts announced Thursday it is working with PDR LLC -- a provider of drug information, prescriber communications and behavior-based patient and consumer health information -- to expand the coverage of CompletEPA, a fully electronic, prior-authorization solution.

“CompletEPA enhances the value of the electronic prior authorization process for doctors and patients alike,” Mike Pritts, executive vice president of product innovation at Surescripts, said. “With greater nationwide patient coverage through PDR, CompletEPA can improve patient health outcomes, save doctor’s offices time and money, and create a more efficient health care system.”

By combining Surescripts’ direct connections with all of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefit managers and PDR’s wide library of electronic prior authorization forms, CompletEPA will be able to process benefit data for almost 100 percent of patients in the United States. CompletEPA provides a fully electronic solution included into the existing electronic prescribing workflow to allow health care providers to finish the prior authorization process accurately and quickly.

“PDR is committed to delivering new healthcare innovations to provide patients, prescribers, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers easy and timely access to relevant health information,” PDR CEO Mark Heinold said. “Our services, paired with Surescripts’ existing electronic prior authorization capability, will help more patients get the medications they need sooner.”
