Proxsys Rx, Catavolt to help hospitals utilize outpatient pharmacies

Proxsys Rx, LLC, said on Tuesday that it has partnered with Catavolt, a mobile technology developer, to aid hospitals in integrating outpatient pharmacy services into the continuum of care.

The integration would benefit patients and health care providers by developing a bedside discharge-delivery application within a handheld tablet.

"The design of the patient interface is critical to success; our partnership with Catavolt enabled us to create a platform that's efficient and easy to use,” Marc Calhoun, Proxsys Rx's chief strategy officer for enterprise solutions, said. “By deploying this new technology bedside, we have the opportunity to improve patient health by simplifying the discharge process for both the patient and the hospital. The results are healthier patients, better population health management, lower readmission rates because of better adherence to their doctor-prescribed drug regimens, greater patient satisfaction and, in turn, better reimbursement rates for the hospital."

Security for sensitive health care data is a priority, and Catavolt is known for providing patented security systems.

"Proxsys Rx charged us with keeping patient data readily accessible in real time, while ensuring it is secure and protected, and not exposed to the Internet,” Catavolt CEO George Mashini said. ”Meeting that challenge helps us enable Proxsys Rx to deliver exceptional atient care.”

Catavolt’s technology will be implemented in the entire Proxsys Rx Integrated Outpatient Pharmacy Provider network.
