The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) announced yesterday that general availability of the .pharmacy domain to pharmacies and pharmacy-related entities will start June 3.
Since the pharmacy Top-Level Domain (TLD) was launched in 2014, NABP has approved more than 300 .pharmacy domain names applied for or requested during registration periods. Currently, applications for the final limited registration period for all dispensing pharmacies are being evaluated. Approved applicants were eligible to begin registering their domain names on May 1.
Entities seeking a pharmacy domain name are required to submit an application, supporting documentation and an application fee to NABP, except for those already accredited through the Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites, Veterinary-Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites Programs, or approved by the NABP e-Advertiser Approval.
NABP will evaluate submitted materials to guarantee fulfillment with program standards. The content of the proposed website must be available for review by NABP either on an existing website or a staging site, as part of the application process. NABP created the .pharmacy TLD to give worldwide customers a way to clearly identify safe and legal online pharmacies and related resources.
Additional information about the .Pharmacy TLD program, as well as information about buying medicine safely online, is available at www.safe.pharmacy.
