SmartStory, Catamaran to produce instructional videos for medication users

SmartStory Technologies has partnered with Catamaran Corp., a pharmacy-benefits manager, to produce personalized, instructional videos for patients using medications from BriovaRx, a specialty-pharmacy subsidiary of Catamaran, using SmartStory's cloud-based video-delivery platform, SmartStory said on Wednesday.

SmartStory and BriovaRx collaborated to produce short-form, sequenced videos for hepatitis C and multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. These videos can be downloaded to a patient's mobile or desktop devices.

“This innovation has given us a great opportunity to create personalized content that is going to make a difference in people’s lives,” Mike Zeglinski, Catamaran's senior vice president of specialty pharmacy, said.

On average, SmartStory users each watch 3.7 videos per viewing session (out of five available videos each session) and complete 81.8 percent of any video they view.

“As an innovative industry leader that is committed to supporting patients on their path to wellness, BriovaRx is perfectly positioned to take advantage of the SmartStory customer-engagement platform,” C. Lloyd Mahaffey, SmartStory Technologies' president and a former Apple senior executive, said. “Their patient-centric commitment to providing superior customer service and support closely aligns with our own strategy of using a personalized ‘video arc of engagement’ to tell smart stories that create long-term, immersive customer engagement.”
