First MinuteClinic opens in Navarro Discount Pharmacy in Miami Lakes

Customers of Navarro Discount Pharmacy, a division of CVS Health, will now have access to onsite medical care as the South Florida retail pharmacy chain has opened its first MinuteClinic.

The retail-based medical clinic is located in Navarro Discount Pharmacy's Miami Lakes store. The bilingual nurse practitioners at the Navarro-based MinuteClinic can diagnose and write prescriptions for common illnesses, treat minor injuries, provide vaccinations, and offer health screenings for conditions such as diabetes.

The clinic is open seven days a week, has evening hours, requires no appointments and accepts most major health insurances including both Medicare and Medicaid.

While this is the first Navarro-based MinuteClinic, the walk-in clinics can be found within 22 CVS stores throughout South Florida.

“This new location broadens both MinuteClinic and Navarro’s ability to serve patients in South Florida including the Hispanic community in Miami Lakes and beyond,” Andrew Sussman, president of MinuteClinic and EVP/associate chief medical officer of CVS Health, said. “Our experienced nurse practitioners help adults and children feel better every day and make it easier and more affordable to obtain basic health care services in convenient locations close to home, school and work.”

Since launching in 2000, MinuteClinic has become the nation's biggest retail health provider with more than 1,000 walk-in medical clinics in CVS stores across 33 states and the District of Columbia.
