AmerisourceBergen Corp. announced this week a long-term agreement with Publix that will bring brand name, generic and over-the-counter products to the supermarket chain.

This pact includes both health and pharmaceutical products. The agreement will also allow Publix to offer patients specialty medicines in the southeast region, which includes more than 980 pharmacy locations.

AmerisourceBergen will deliver their products directly to Publix pharmacies, warehouses and central fill facilities. It will also offer the supermarket chain access to its Cubixx inventory management solution. The Cubixx technology offers radio frequency identification (RFID) that will be used in the distribution of specialty medicines to Publix pharmacies. Publix will also use high-tech solutions to maintain efficient inventory and will have the support of AmerisourceBergen’s consultation services.
