ASHP announces 2016 award recipients

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) has announced its 2016 Board of Directors’ Awards recipients, which will be presented at ASHP’s national meetings.

The ASHP will grant honorary membership to R. David Anderson, Director of Pharmacy Services, Waynesboro Community Hospital (retired), and Toby Clark, Pharmacy Director and Professor of Pharmacy Practice, University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center (retired), in June for their outstanding contributions to pharmacy practice.

The Award of Excellence will go to the Geisinger Health System Medication Therapy Disease Management Program in June for its contributions to pharmacy practice in acute and ambulatory care settings.

The Distinguished Leadership Award will be awarded to Mary Ann Kliethermes, Vice-Chair, Ambulatory Care and Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Midwestern University – Chicago College of Pharmacy in December in recognition of her achievements in pharmacy practice leadership.

The Award of Honor will be given to Thomas R. Frieden, Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta in December for his contributions to the health field as an individual outside the pharmacy discipline.

The Donald E. Francke medal will be bestowed upon Lee C. Vermeulen, Director, Center for Clinical Knowledge Management, University of Wisconsin Health in December in honor of his international contributions.
