Rosenstein steps down from Walgreens Boots Alliance board

Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. (WBA) announced this week that Barry Rosenstein has stepped down from the company’s board of directors.

Rosenstein serves as a managing partner at JANA Partners LLC. The company serves as a investor in Walgreens. It was decided that following a planned reduction in investment, Rosenstein would step down. The announcement states that the reduction has since taken place. Rosenstein served on the board since September 2014.

“We thank Barry for the new perspectives and experience he brought to the board during his tenure,” James Skinner, chairman of the WBA board of directors, said. “He played a valuable role at an important time for the company as Walgreens and Alliance Boots combined in 2014 to transform into a global company.”

WBA was formed in 2014 and combined Walgreens and Alliance Boots in order to serve as a retail pharmacy and source of health products and other items.

“I could not have dreamed up a better example of the value of constructive and positive engagement between a company and its shareholders, and I am proud of the work this board has done since 2014 to put Walgreens on the path to delivering maximum value for all of its shareholders,” Rosenstein said.
