MinuteClinic adds digital tool to cut waiting time

CVS Health this week announced the launch of a digital tool that will allow patients to view wait times at MinuteClinic locations, which is expected to include CVS locations in Target stores later in 2016.

Patients will be able to use their home computer, mobile device or smartphone to view waiting times at the locations closest to them. By entering the reason for the visit and contact method, either a phone number or email address, the system can send an alert that details the best time to come in. At the MinuteClinic location there is a kiosk to enter in a confirmation code that will allow the patient to see the physician more quickly.

"We've worked closely with our collaborating physicians, health system affiliates, and our practitioner team to develop a consistent and thoughtful approach to expand and introduce new services that are within the scope of practice of our nurse practitioners and physician assistants," President of CVS MinuteClinic, Dr. Andrew Sussman, said. "We employ evidence-based guidelines in our treatment plans. Having seen more than 30 million visits in 16 years, we hope to continue to bring innovations and convenience to the way health care is delivered today."

The announcement also states that the clinic is expanding its treatment services in women’s health and counseling. Services are also expanding to address immediate symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and pain.
