Zika prevention webinar launched by NACDS Foundation

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) recently announced the launch of an online webinar regarding the zika virus.

"Zika Prevention Strategies: Patient & Community Health" features presentations by March of Dimes Foundation SVP Dr. Paul Jarris and University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy Professor Jeffery Bratberg.

“The NACDS Foundation appreciates the leadership and expertise of our presenters and everyone at the March of Dimes Foundation and the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy for helping to develop this high-quality continuing education program in a timely fashion, given the pressing needs associated with the ZIka Virus,” NACDS Foundation President Kathleen Jaeger said. “We appreciate their partnership on this online webinar, which will foster much-needed education on this urgent issue.”

The webinar provides information about the zika virus, its risks, prevention and behavioral counseling to assist patients in protecting themselves from mosquito bites. The online course provides one hour of continuing education (CE) credit, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

The webinar compliments the NACDS' efforts to reach out to women and families in Puerto Rico via radio and online messages regarding the virus. The campaign emphasizes the importance of seeking advice from physicians and pharmacists on ways to protect women and their unborn children.
