Baxter International recently presented data regarding the SHARESOURCE remote patient management platform and the AMIA automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) system and their roles in more efficient home dialysis while supporting patients and their ability to be independent.
The data was shared at the American Society of Nephrology’s annual Kidney Week held in Chicago Nov. 15-20.
“Data on the use of Baxter’s AMIA APD system and the SHARESOURCE telehealth platform tell us the technology is enhancing dialysis clinic efficiencies,” Baxter Vice President of Medical Affairs Dr. Dheerendra Kommala said. “For the first time, physicians have more reliable visibility to their patient’s home therapy, which helps them identify potential clinical and therapy adherence issues sooner so that informed decisions can be addressed more quickly.”
Early data compiled by Baxter shows that the SHARSOURCE telehealth platform is aiding physicians and their ability to identify adverse issues relating to treatments at an early stage while also creating faster treatments. The data also shows how Baxter’s AMIA APD system’s voice-controlled features that are centered on the patient are helping with drastic reductions of training times in clinics by more than a day, per patient.
