RxGenomix's training program in Pharmacogenomics has been approved by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) as a continuing pharmacy education credit.
The training program will give approximately 300,000 registered pharmacists the opportunity to receive education in pharmacogenomics, a fast-growing science.
“It is becoming clear that integration of pharmacogenomics into pharmacy practice is refining medication therapy and benefitting patients,” Manchester University Department of Pharmaceuticals Sciences Chair David Kisor said. “To increase the appropriate use of pharmacogenomics, education must reach a broader population of pharmacists. Bringing this information, in such an accessible format, to APhA membership is going to help the profession add new and significant value to medication therapy management.”
The course, which is worth 16 hours of continuing education, was developed through RxGenomix and Manchester University’s partnership to aid working pharmacists in their education of pharmacogenomics and how it pertains to their clinical practices.
The training program, which was launched online in 2015, can easily be assimilated into colleges and schools of pharmacy curriculums. The content of the course was designed specifically to discuss the ACPE Standards 2016.
