The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has releases detailed information on the risks that flu season presents. 
While the flu season is usually thought to run during the winter months, the CDC is cautioning that it can begin in October and run until May 1, sometimes even peaking in March. Being misinformed about when the flu is present and a threat can result in more infections. 
The CDC reminds the nation that the flu vaccine is the best defense against contracting the disease, especially for individuals who work in public places, such as offices, attend university, schools or other heavily populated venues. 
CVS Pharmacy and the MinuteClinic are excellent places to begin the vaccination against the flu, as it is available seven days a week, evenings and weekends, with no appointments necessary. For those who want to walk in and out quickly, CVS offers an online reservation option.
"With many people choosing to go to work even when they're experiencing flu-like symptoms, it's vital to take all precautions necessary to avoid getting sick," MinuteClinic Chief Nurse Practitioner Officer Angela Patterson said.
