Daiichi Sankyo sells Pennsylvania plant to Sharp Packaging

Daiichi Sankyo Inc.has sold its pharmaceutical packaging plant in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Sharp Packaging Services, a division of UDG Healthcare.

Sharp acquired the property April 1. Though Sharp has gained ownership of the property, it has extended employment to former employees of the plant.

"With its track record as a leader in contract packaging and clinical supply services for pharmaceutical companies, as well as its expertise in implementing serialisation solutions, Sharpt is the right partner to assume our packaging operations," Daiichi Sankyo Commercial President Ken Keller said.

Currently, Daiichi Sankyo is focusing on manufacturing pharmaceuticals for oncology and pain.
