Allergan recently announced a new campaign to raise awareness for Chronic Dry Eye, using the slogan “before we had our voice, we had eyes.”

The campaign was created to spread awareness and to empower individuals struggling with the symptoms of Chronic Dry Eye. According to research, people read emotions in others’ eyes. Unfortunately, the redness, itching and watering eyes associated with Chronic Dry Eye can often send the wrong message. Through the campaign, Allergan hopes to educate people so they can seek a doctor’s help if they realize they have symptons.

"As a global leader in eye care, we are always working toward raising awareness for and renewing the conversation around the issue of Chronic Dry Eye since it affects millions of people," Herm Cukier, Allergan's senior vice president of eye care, said in a statement.  "The campaign taps into consumers' emotions, hopefully inspiring more people to find Eyepowerment."

Chronic dry eye, in which inflammation leads to reduced tear production, can be caused by advanced age, contact lens wear, certain medications, eye diseases, other medical conditions or environmental factors.
