Josie Martin has been named vice president of corporate affairs and communications for Purdue Pharma LP.

Martin has been working in the field for over 25 years, having served as executive vice president of public affairs for Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). In her role at PhRMA, Martin worked to build a strong relationship with stakeholders and helped with the planning and execution of the Go Boldly campaign.

Starting her career with the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, Martin worked as a communications director and press secretary. She also held positions at Ketchum, the Federation of American Hospitals and the American Red Cross.

"I’m confident Josie’s experience, especially in designing and implementing public awareness campaigns, will be instrumental to the continued advancement of our efforts to set a new standard for education on the appropriate prescribing of opioid medications," Purdue Pharma President and CEO Mark Timney said.

Martin looks forward to multiple aspects of her new position.

"Purdue Pharma has a strong record of innovation not only in pharmaceuticals, but also its public health programs," Martin said.
