BiologicTx marked a year of successful transplants using its paired donation software, BiologicTx MatchGrid.

This system is responsible for matching over 40 donors to recipients since May 2016, and changing the lives of each recipient.

Khalid Almeshari, transplant nephrologist and immunologist and chairman for the Committee for Paired Kidney Donation and HLA and ABOi Kidney Transplantation for the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Saudi Arabia, spoke on the technology and its significance.

"The seven-way kidney paired donation exchange we successfully completed was triggered by a non-directed or altruistic donor," Almeshari said. "Because of that donation, we were able to accomplish one of the largest exchanges ever done over 48 hours at a single center."

MatchGrid's technology works by quickly sorting through all possible matches, cutting down on the time that past systems needed. The system also ensures that the recipients will be receiving the best quality donation available.

"As a super-user of the software, he has tapped into all the advanced features within MatchGrid to identify donor/recipient pairs that would not have been found previously," BiologicTx Chief Technology Officer David Jacobs said.
