Pharmaceutical provider AmerisourceBergen recently unveiled the DIR Fee Estimator, its newest tool in conjunction with its nationwide Good Neighbor Pharmacy network, to streamline transactions between provider networks and pharmacy benefit managers by providing cost estimate ranges.

Direct and indirect remuneration (DIR) fees can be better managed with this new feature, the company said in a press release.  All members of AmerisourceBergen’s pharmacy services administrative organization, Elevate Provider Network, can access the DIR Fee Estimator.

“For more than 30 years, we have found our greatest successes when we listen to our pharmacists and develop solutions that address the most complicated challenges they face every day,” Chuck Reed, AmerisourceBergen’s group vice president of pharmacy innovation and solutions, said. “Inconsistency and opacity in how DIR fees are calculated and the delayed timing of DIR fees is a major pain point for pharmacists. Our DIR Fee Estimator tool was created to empower them to plan ahead, give them visibility into the process and ultimately set them up for a more successful business.”

AmerisourceBergen assists independent pharmacies in mitigating fee impact by carefully selecting managed care contracting strategies — including seeking out preferred cost-share networks and advocating for both independent and long-term care pharmacies at the legislative level.
