Medicine Shoppe International announced this week, along with the Center for Pharmacy Practice Accreditation (CPPA), that its location in Benson, Arizona has been named a community pharmacy accreditation recipient.

Medicine Shoppe International is a Cardinal Health Co. and is among the major franchisers of community pharmacies in the United States.

The community pharmacy accreditation, which is awarded by the CPPA, gives recognition to a pharmacy that provides advanced levels of care services, quality and safety for its patients. In order to receive the voluntary accreditation, the Benson Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy location had to establish itself to be in compliance with a set of standards exhibited within its practices. The CPPA conducted a consultation that looked at the management, patient care services and improvement of quality within the practice.

The CPPA was established by the American Pharmacists Association, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists to administer accreditations to community pharmacies. The CPPA gives recognition to pharmacies for their patient care services that show an improvement in health outcomes and provide more affordable care. The CPPA’s mission is to serve public health by giving accreditations to raise overall pharmacy patient care.
