The expansion is part of company's commitment to workforce and community development as the apprenticeship program allows participants to earn money while learning the skills necessary to succeed in high-demand careers.
CVS Health, with the help of the U.S. Department of Labor American Apprenticeship Grants, has partnered with numerous organizations around the nation to develop new Registered Apprenticeship programs and add on to those that already exist.
Apprenticeship opportunities will be expanded for pharmacy technicians in Missouri, Wisconsin, Texas, Rhode Island and Arkansas, while new programs will be created for pharmacy technicians in specialty pharmacy services in Wisconsin and Michigan as well as for technicians in the company's CVS call center in Dallas. There will also be extensive opportunities for retail store managers in Rhode Island. Additionally, apprenticeships in fields such as logistics and digital may be offered in the future.
Since launching its Registered Apprenticeship program for pharmacy technicians in 2005, CVS Health has helped put more than 1,500 individuals in career tracks within the retail pharmacy and management fields.
"At CVS Health, we know the value of investing in the communities we serve, particularly in workforce development," CVS Health Vice President of Workforce Strategies and Chief Diversity Officer David Casey said. "Through programs such as Registered Apprenticeships, we are not only helping to equip community members and potential job candidates with the tools they need to succeed in their careers, we are also ensuring that our company has a strong pipeline of talented colleagues."
