The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) recently released its 2016 edition of the AHFS Drug Information (AHFS DI).

The collection is the United States’ leading source for unbiased and authoritative information on drugs. It is currently the only collection of drug information that has been designated as a source for reimbursement of off-label uses by the U.S. Congress.

Many health-care insurance providers, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, identify the AHFS DI as the ultimate reference guide on what drugs are accepted in medical use. The manual differentiates itself as a leading authority from other similar guides by providing a full range of drug therapy, going beyond cancer-related drugs. The addition of the AHFS DI to reference libraries has been recommended by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and the American College of Physicians.

The AHFS DI has many drug monographs that are systematically researched by pharmacists who specialize in drug information, professional editors and an analytical staff. Included in the monographs are clinical research data, guidelines and labeling approved by the FDA. Also included in the collection of works is the expertise of medical scientists, physicians, pharmacists, pharmacologists and clinicians who are leaders in their respective fields.
