Avion Pharmaceuticals recently announced its support of August being designated National Breastfeeding Month by the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee (USBC).
Along with this show of support, Avion has donated $500 to the USBC to fund further research.
In addition to applauding the USBC for their efforts, Avion is recognizing that breastfeeding has many positive benefits for mothers and their babies.
The theme of this year’s National Breastfeeding Month is the progress that has been made since 2011, the year that the Surgeon General announced a call to action in support of breastfeeding. While honoring the five years of progress, the USCB is also working toward increasing the number of women who embrace healthy lifestyle choices before, throughout and after their pregnancies.
"Avion is proud to support the mission of the USBC and is committed to support our community of moms and babies with prescription nutritional support that meets expert recommendation for pregnancy and breastfeeding," Mike Sullivan, president of Avion, said. "Our mission is to develop products that deliver maximum benefits along the continuum of care in women's lives. These products are driven by a desire to improve the lives of both moms and babies."
