Cigna adds fingerprint feature to tracking app
Cigna Director of Global Digital Marketing Dave Vonesh said in a recent statement from the company’s Bloomfield, Connecticut, hub that the new feature supports the firm’s goals by virtue of its user-friendliness, its ability to keep patients informed about their accounts and its capacity for supporting preventive care measures.
Customers can check their ID cards and account balances; request reimbursements; view claims statuses; compare prices; and even make in-network dental appointments. Close to 2 million downloads of the myCigna application have been recorded since it launched four years ago, the company stated.
"Fingerprint access eliminates the need to remember multiple IDs and passwords and provides quick and easy access to the tools within the application,” Vonesh said. “Cigna was looking for new ways to improve its app, which launched originally in 2012, as we're seeing increased interest in mobile use from customers."
By using the one-touch, fingerprint-enabled application, Cigna beneficiaries can find out instantly whether a health care provider is in their network -- potentially saving them both time and money.
