The Food and Drug Administration has announced actions taken by the State of Texas against three compounding pharmacies for violations of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Rules. These actions were shared pursuant to Section 105 of the Drug Quality and Security Act.

Boudreaux’s New Drug Store in Lake Charles, Louisiana, was found to have dispensed 3,650 prescriptions between September 11, 2020, and March 2, 2022. These prescriptions were allegedly compounded in a non-hazardous drug buffer room that had not been certified since June 2020. The Louisiana Board of Pharmacy issued a Consent Order against Boudreaux’s New Drug Store, imposing a $25,000 fine.

Hallandale Pharmacy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, faced scrutiny for failing to disclose disciplinary action from the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy on its application for licensure in Texas. The pharmacy allegedly dispensed and shipped prescription drugs to Texas patients without holding a Texas pharmacy license and shipped compounded medications to Mississippi without proper certification from the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy. Consequently, the Texas Board reprimanded Hallandale Pharmacy's license.

Sitlausdeo Pharmacy, LLC, located in Houston, Texas, did not comply with Remedial Plan #2020-06870. According to an Agreed Board Order, the pharmacist-in-charge failed to engage in business within six months of receiving their license. Additionally, they did not complete necessary procedures before compounding sterile preparations or properly supervise personnel. The pharmacy also neglected reporting requirements related to controlled substance prescriptions.

For further details on these orders, inquiries can be directed to the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
