Geneva Woods Pharmacy, Inc., a provider of integrated home and specialty pharmacy services in under-served rural markets, today announced the acquisition of Vancouver, Washington-based CHS Pharmacy and Kirks Drugs.
"CHS and Kirk's embody the values that we promote within our company every day: A passion for our clients, a sense of urgency in meeting our client needs and a patient-centric approach to help keep clients healthy in home-like settings,” GWP President Dan Afrasiabi said. “We look forward to bringing new resources and services to help our clients provide better care, and to contribute to a more efficient and outcome-oriented approach to health care in smaller markets."
The acquisition positions GWP to expand its integrated pharmacy services model through the Pacific Northwest. It is the latest in a string of acquisitions that have expanded GWP’s reach from Alaska to Wyoming.
Along with the acquisition, GWP will start a lower 48 headquarters in Vancouver. It is expected that GWP will at least double its workforce throughout the Vancouver area.
“With the significant changes in the industry, especially related to reimbursement complications, compliance requirements and the need for heavy capital expenditure, we believe the time is right to join forces with a company that can bring the necessary resources to the table,” James Waletich, founder and CEO of CHS, said. “I am proud to partner with GWP to continue to hold ourselves to the highest possible standards of care, while increasing the breadth of services that we can offer our clients."
