New tool aims to help pharmacists track drug adherence, ensure patient safety

Pharmacy Quality Solutions (PQS) is offering pharmacies a new tool to help achieve even greater medication adherence and patient safety for customers in government programs.

The new system, the Electronic Quality Improvement Platform for Plans and Pharmacies (EQuIPP), will promote better sharing of drug-related performance metrics with community pharmacies. The program will make it possible for pharmacies to easily track medication performance against Medicare Part D Star rating measures.

EQuIPP will aggregate de-identified data from Medicare and Medicaid plans, tracking high-risk medicine use, appropriate high-blood-pressure management for diabetes patients, and adherence to diabetes, cholesterol and high-blood-pressure medications.

The data shared through EQuIPP will come from more than 1 million Medicare and more than 500,000 Medicaid members.

Information will be shared through user-friendly dashboards.
