Pleio partners with PDN to improve medication adherence

Pleio Inc. recently teamed up with the Pharmacy Data Network (PDN) to expand access to its medication adherence solution in community pharmacies.

The GoodStart solution is a practical adherence support system that aims to enhance a patient's medication routine by engaging patients by phone within 10 days of filling a prescription, engaging in multiple phone discussions with them, sending reminder messages to the patient based on their communication preference, ensuring the patient consults with a pharmacist to deal with adherence issues and sending patients customized thank-you cards in order to motivate them to continue following their established medicine routine.

As part of the collaboration, Pleio's GoodStart will now be available to PDN customers. The health care data aggregator offers one common database, where health care data can be shared across all systems in the network with PDN's network consisting of pharmacies, pharmacy software vendors and pharmacy service providers. PDN aims to accommodate the needs of the community pharmacies it serves while decreasing the data burden placed on system vendors.

“Our partnership with Pleio is yet another example of our commitment to helping community pharmacies bring affordable, practical programs to their customers in their surrounding neighborhoods,” PDN CEO Chuck Welch said.

GoodStart has reportedly resulted in many benefits, including patients refilling their prescriptions earlier and more often.

“Our partnership with PDN will allow Pleio to improve Star ratings for our community pharmacy and health plan partners, improve the health and wellness of their loyal patients and lower overall healthcare costs,” Pleio CEO Mark Connors said.
