Astellas Pharma Inc. recently promoted James Robinson to the position of president of Americas Operations for Astellas US LLC.
He was promoted from the position of president of Astellas Pharma US. His new role will include managing the company's North and South American operations, and will begin April 1. He is replacing the retiring Masao Yoshida.
"As a 10-year veteran of Astellas with more than 20 years of health care industry experience, Jim's commitment to operational and commercial excellence has helped Astellas grow dramatically in the Americas," Astellas Pharma Inc. President and CEO Yoshihiko Hatanaka said. "His deep experience, skills and strong commitment to operating and leading with the highest sense of ethics and compliance will help Astellas stay focused on our global vision to be on the forefront of health care change to turn innovative science into value for patients."
Robinson started in the company in 2005 as the VP of health systems, was promoted to SVP of sales and marketing in 2011 and president of Astellas Pharma US in 2013. He previously worked at Schering-Plough, and currently serves as the chairman of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America State Committee. He graduated from DePaul University.
