The US Oncology Network recently announced the launch of a new groundbreaking program that was developed to aid oncologists from around the country prepare for the execution of the new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Oncology Care Model (OCM) and other alternate payment models.

The US Oncology Network is being backed by McKesson Specialty Health in the endeavor.

The US Oncology Network OCM program will research and polish key processes that are required to meet OCM regulations. These regulations will help oncologists to transition effortlessly to the new value- and team-based care models.

The CMS payment and care delivery model will focus on providing more effective and efficient cancer care that will line up financial incentives and accountability of performance for treatments that involve the use of chemotherapy. This new model will give practices that are led by physicians the opportunity to administer high quality and innovative care to patients.

The goal of the new model is to give patients better quality care while reducing costs. The Network OCM program was also developed to include key processes in normal operations where it is possible to avoid the disruption of workflow.
