CVS committed to National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

CVS Health recently announced its support of this Saturday's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

As part of its commitment to prescription drug abuse prevention, its Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program has already donated more than 500 drug disposal containers to police departments nationwide. Due to the availability of those collection bins, more than 35 metric tons of unwanted prescription drugs have been collected.

In support of the event, CVS Health is hosting more than 150 take back events at CVS Pharmacies, donating 11 drug disposal units to the Connecticut State Police and providing additional education resources on www.CVS.com.

"CVS Health is committed to helping the communities we serve address and prevent prescription drug abuse," CVS Pharmacy VP of Pharmacy Professional Practices Tom Davis said. "Proper disposal of unwanted prescription medication is critical to prevent abuse and we are proud to mark National Prescription Drug Take Back Day with a number of important initiatives. Taken together, our Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program, our patient resources on CVS.com and our Take Back events are helping us advance CVS Health's purpose of helping people on their path to better health."
