CVS Health announced this week the opening of seven MinuteClinics in Northern Virginia Target stores.
The new locations were rebranded as
MinuteClinics. With the seven new locations plus the existing clinics in CVS
Pharmacies, there are now 31 MinuteClinics in Northern Virginia.
"The new MinuteClinic locations inside Target will offer the same scope of services available to patients at all our other clinics in Virginia, the D.C. Metro area and nationwide," CVS Health EVP and Associate Chief Medical Officer and MinuteClinic President Dr. Andrew Sussman said. "In addition, some services will be new to Target guests, including treatment for minor sprains and strains, contraceptive care, smoking cessation counseling, and weight loss assessment and coaching."
The new in-store clinics are located at Chantilly, Fairfax, Falls Church, Gainesville, Leesburg, Manassas and Sterling. Most MinuteClinics are open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The Sterling location closes at 7 p.m. on weekdays and opens at 11 a.m. on Sundays. Appointments are not required. MinuteClinics accept most insurance plans and prices are posted in the clinics and online for cash customers.
"About 50 percent of MinuteClinic visits occur on evenings, weekends and holidays when patients may not be able to get an appointment with their primary care provider and otherwise may need to choose more expensive emergency department or urgent care options," Sussman said. "Also, approximately half of the patients seen at MinuteClinic are 'medically homeless' and do not have a personal physician."
