CVS Health has launched a prescription savings program called Reduced RX that will provide various discounts for certain medications through CVS Caremark directly to patients.
Partnering with CVS Health in the program is Novo Nordisk.
"We developed the Reduced Rx prescription savings program with Novo Nordisk because we both recognized a need and an opportunity to make critical medications more affordable for patients," Jonathan Roberts, executive vice president and chief pperating officer for CVS Health, said in a statement. "This savings program will leverage CVS Caremark's expertise in providing lower cost prescription drugs and fulfill our company's purpose of helping people on their path to better health."
Through the program, CVS Health and Novo Nordisk will help patients with high out-of-pocket costs afford essential medications. Novo Nordisk will provide Novolin R, Novolin N and Novolin 70/30 human insulin at a cost of $25 per 10ml vial. This represents savings reaching as high as $100 for patients who pay in cash.
"This program underscores how important collaboration is to addressing the affordability challenges patients face in certain health plans or who remain uninsured," Doug Langa, senior vice president and head of North America Operations for Novo Nordisk, said. "We all have a role to play and that's why we welcomed the chance to work with CVS Health on this program,"
Patients will be able to purchase the reduced-cost medications at 67,000 CVS Caremark retail network pharmacies.
