The U.S. House of Representatives passed H. Con. Res. 113, the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2027, by a narrow vote of 216-214 on July 22. The resolution aims to provide emergency support for military personnel and strengthen election security measures.
House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington of Texas said, "I am humbled by the steadfast unity and unwavering determination from House Republicans to break the Democrat obstruction so we can provide emergency support for our troops, safeguard the integrity of our elections, and continue delivering on the priorities of the American people. I urge the Senate to seize this fateful moment to SAVE and Protect America," according to Arrington.
The resolution now moves to the Senate for consideration. The House Republican leadership has emphasized the importance of the measure in addressing national security and election integrity.
Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd Congressional District, is among the members of the House involved in advancing budget priorities. Simpson has served in the U.S. Congress since 1999, after previously serving in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998, according to MBO gather.
Simpson was born in Burley, Idaho in 1950, graduated from Utah State University in 1972, and currently resides in Idaho Falls, according to MBO gather.
The Senate is expected to review the resolution in the coming weeks. Supporters say the measure is intended to address urgent needs for national defense and election security.
