APhA launches new training program
ADAPT is a transformative online patient care skills development program designed for practicing pharmacists. It provides evidence-based content from experts in an interactive online format.
“This program provides another tool along pharmacists’ professional development continuum and a mechanism to gain recognition," APhA Executive Vice President and CEO Thomas Menighan said. “The knowledge, skills and performance capabilities acquired by those completing the program will help them assume greater patient care roles as members of the healthcare team. The ADAPT training program changes how pharmacists practice and prepares them to serve new and expanded patient care roles.”
Participants in the ADAPT program will practice skills in a real-world setting while being supported by continuous assessment and mentoring by peers and trained moderators. Skills and processes covered in ADAPT include conducting thorough medication assessment; collaborating successfully with other healthcare providers; making evidence-based clinical decisions; developing and implementing care plans; using validated documentation practices to support patient care; interviewing and assessing patients.
ADAPT was developed by the Canadian Pharmacists Association, and APhA is the sole U.S. partner and distributer of the program. Registration is now open.
