ExceleraRx Corp. said on Monday that Banner Health, a nonprofit health care system, has become an Excelera stockholder.
“We are very excited that Banner Health chose to invest in the Excelera network,” Excelera network CEO Jim Fox said. “Banner Health is a leading and growing system, and its long-term commitment to Excelera adds significant value to the overall network.”
Banner first joined the Excelera network as a health system member in June 2014 and now is an investor in the network.
The Excelera network, owned by a subset of its members, consists of point-of-care-based specialty pharmacies owned by health systems and academic medical centers. Excelera provides members with tools, best practices, and sophisticated data-reporting and benchmarking support to grow its specialty-pharmacy capabilities and gain access to limited-distribution drugs and restrictive payer agreements.
“Banner Health exists to make a difference in people's lives through excellent patient care, and our partnership with Excelera assists us in providing important continuity of care for our specialty pharmacy patients,” Banner Health Pharmacy Services CEO Pamela Nenaber said. “Excelera’s sharing of tools, data, benchmarking and best practices improves patient outcomes and increases value for the populations we serve.”
In addition to Banner, the Excelera network includes Henry Ford Health System, Catholic Health Initiatives, Fairview Health Services, Intermountain Healthcare, Avera Health, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Regional Health.
