CVS Health announces partnerships with NBNA and NAHN
The strategic partnerships will continue CVS Health’s ongoing development of its diverse workforce reflecting the clientele and communities it serves. It is the NBNA and NAHN’s mission to develop nursing in diverse populaces.
CVS Health will launch programs and strategies to cultivate diversity among its nursing staffs. The company will also provide more internships and scholarships to candidates of diverse ethnicities.
CVS Health’s goal through the partnership is to provide care to diverse populations that have been underserved. Labor statistics currently show that only 19 percent of the nursing workforce in the United States is of a minority background. That same statistics show that 37 percent of the United States’ population are minorities. CVS Health is looking to close that gap and these partnerships are the first step in that process.
CVS pharmacies are one of the largest employers of nurse practitioners in the U.S. and are dedicated to helping students pursuing careers in the field further their education. In 2016, the CVS Health Foundation will start giving funds to nursing and physician assistant schools.
