Leslie Z. Benet to receive the Remington Honor Medal
Dr. Benet will receive the award due to his extensive contributions, both scientific and in public service, in the pharmaceutical field. He is a professor at the University of California-San Francisco, where he had served as the Chairman of the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences. The department is a combination of the Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine.
Dr. Benet has accumulated a total of 540 publications, edited six books and has received 12 patents. His works have been cited worldwide, having been published in the fields of pharmacokinetics, biopharmacies, drug delivery and pharmacodynamics. He has served as the mentor to 54 doctoral graduates and 122 postdoctoral students and scientists who have visited his laboratory.
The Remington Honor Medal was established in 1918 and named for Joseph P. Remington, a pharmacist, manufacturer and educator. It recognizes individuals on behalf of American pharmacy for their service. Benet will receive the Remington Honor Medal during the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Baltimore, Maryland, March 4-7.
