Cigna recently announced that Cigna Hospital Care, the company’s new group hospital indemnity insurance policy, will be available starting in April.

The new plan will provide individuals and families added monetary protection in the event of an unexpected hospitalization. Cigna Hospital Care will include accidental injury, critical illness, dental, vision, life and disability coverages.

Cigna Hospital Care is meant to complement major medical plans and designed to address the needs of employers and individuals. Plans can be specifically catered to contain a vast majority of services provided by hospitals. It goes hand-in-hand with medical plans no matter the insurance provider behind the medical coverage. The coverage provided by the Cigna Hospital Care can be transferred with an employee if they leave their job.

The new care plan is easier for employers to implement and can be tailored to fit any all-inclusive benefit package. Employers could also add a wellness rider in order to pay a flat dollar amount to employees who take part in annual wellness screenings.

Employers will be able to get quotes for the new group insurance policy from Cigna beginning in April.
