The American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy (AJHP) today announced the launch of its first theme issue with the June 1 edition focusing on Specialty Pharmacy.
AJHP is the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) official journal. The online edition of the June 1 issue is available here: http://www.ajhp.org/content/early/recent.
“With our 2016 redesign and introduction of theme issues, AJHP is taking on a broader role as the source of the latest scientific evidence, practice information, news and opinion pieces that can guide medication use and health care delivery at the patient, population, and policy levels,” AJHP Editor in Chief Daniel J. Cobaugh said. “The Specialty Pharmacy theme issue will serve as a valuable resource for clinicians, thought leaders, policymakers, and others beyond the realm of ASHP and pharmacy.”
The Specialty Pharmacy edition includes a variety of articles focused on specialty pharmacy topics, from medications to diseases to pharmacy programs. Additional theme issues will follow on Sept. 15, Dec. 1 and March 1, 2017. The topics will be "Pharmacists' Prescribing Activities," "Precision Medicine" and "Innovative Approaches to Pharmacy Residency Education," respectively.
The guest editor of the first AJHP theme issue is Kevin Colgan. His current position is at University of Chicago Medicine, where he is the VP and Chief Pharmacy Officer. He also served as ASHP President in 2007-2008.
