Cigna today announced its collaboration with Florida's Integrated Independent Physicians Network LLC (IP Network).
The collaborative care
program took effect on April 1.
"Through these types of collaborations we have the opportunity to help transform the health care delivery system and offer improved quality and affordability to our customers," Cigna's Senior Medical Director for Florida Dr. Michael Howell said. "Transitioning to a value-based reimbursement model rewards doctors for results and focuses on prevention, wellness, health improvement and care coordination.”
IP Network clinical care coordinators will work with Cigna case managers to ensure that Cigna customers receive the help they need for a better health care experience. The collaboration will help customers with follow-up care, health screenings and access Cigna's clinical support programs. The teams will also identify medication issues and work with patients with chronic health conditions.
“This program gives us valuable data and insights that can help integrate our approach to patient care,” IP Network President Dr. George White said. ”When physicians and health insurers are on the same team, real health improvement occurs.”
Cigna has 150 Cigna Collaborative Care arrangements in 29 states. More than 69,000 doctors belong to the physician groups that have collaborated with Cigna, which benefits nearly 1.7 million Cigna customers.
