ASHP names president, announces new board members

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) announced Wednesday that Lisa Gersema was selected as the organization’s president during its Summer Meetings and Exhibition in Baltimore.

Jennifer Schultz and Todd Karpinski were also installed as members of the ASHP Board of Directors.

Gersema serves as the director of pharmacy and as the residency program director at the United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. Gersema has also served as the chair of the Council on Pharmacy Practice and as a member of the Commission on Therapeutics. She has also served on the ASHP Board of Directors.

Schultz currently serves as the clinical pharmacy supervisor and as the residency program director with with Bozeman Deaconess Health Services in Montana. She has also served as the chair and director-at-large of the ASHP Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners and the organization’s Council on Education and Workforce Development.

Karpinski serves as the chief pharmacy officer with Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, located in Menomonee Falls. Karpinski has also served as a president of the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists and served as a chair of the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers.

The organization is focused on representing pharmacists who also serve as health care providers. There are approximately 43,000 members in ASHP.
