McKesson Health Solutions recently announced the integration of its InterQual Connect software with 3M Health Information Systems' 3M ClinTrac Suite, which will enable the two software programs to speed up the processes of provider care management, medical reviews and automated payment authorizations.
“The old way of obtaining authorizations isn’t fast enough or cost-efficient in the age of health information systems and value-based care,” McKesson Health Solutions VP of Product Management, Decision Management, Nilo Mehrabian said. “By integrating InterQual Connect with 3M ClinTrac, we’re streamlining utilization management to help providers focus more time on care delivery instead of chasing after authorizations. Bringing InterQual Connect’s exception-based UM model to more providers is crucial for a world focused on value.”
The automated process will eliminate phone, fax and other software and communication delays. Providers can complete the InterQual medical review and authorization request and electronically submit it through the 3M ClinTrac system.
Integrating the two systems is a time- and money-saving solution to coordinating patient care, including preparing hospital discharge plans, reporting quality indicators and reducing billing delays and denials. The integrated system will also assist providers in ensuring that their practices stay in compliance with privacy rules.
