Triumph Pharmaceuticals this week announced that Ray Barrett, Biomedical Systems chairman, has accepted its position of chairman.
Barrett will also serve as chairman of SmartMouth, Triumph’s premiere brand of oral rinse that gives users up to 24 hours of fresh breath.
Barrett is known in the business as an “entrepreneur’s entrepreneur” and brings his unique brand of experience to Triumph. He has had well-known success in medical and health care markets as well as in consumer products over the course of his career.
Barrett has transformed Biomedical Systems into worldwide organization that offers clinical trials on a global scale. Prior to his time with Biomedical, he founded Landshire Food Systems, a packaged goods manufacturer and distributor, before selling the company to Southland Corp. in 1977.
Groundbreaking science was the reason he became interested in SmartMouth.
"In the course of my career, I've learned that if you don't innovate, you disintegrate," he said. "The science behind SmartMouth is truly innovative. It works differently by employing zinc ion technology that not only stops bad breath but prevents it. It's truly a daily cure for bad breath. That's innovation, but that's not all. They have other products in their pipeline."
