GE Healthcare is working alongside of Check-Cap on the development and validation of a cancer-screening process.

Called the C-Scan system, a capsule scans the colon and allows health care professionals the opportunity to detect issues that are of concern in relation to cancer.

"We are very excited to have achieved success in the first critical phase of our collaboration with GE Healthcare, where we demonstrated the capability of our process to manufacture X-ray sourced for the C-Scan system," Check-Cap CEO Bill Densel said.

Though not cleared for marketing yet, the system will be available for health care professionals soon.

"The results of this critical phase of the collaboration are incredibly exciting for patients and the future prevention of colorectal cancer," Emmanuel Ligner, general manager of Core Imaging GE Healthcare Life Sciences, said.
