Aetna Inc. issued the following announcement on April 20.
Aetna’s recently announced expansion efforts in Wellesley, Mass., not only demonstrate the company’s commitment to the local community, but to transforming the consumer health experience.
Aetna’s Consumer Health and Services (CH&S) organization is based in Wellesley, a division operating as an innovation hub responsible for developing new products, services, technologies and capabilities.
The expansion will add 80,000 additional square feet of office space to the company’s 93 Worcester Street location, which will accommodate the creation of more than 250 new CH&S positions by 2020.
“This project reflects our ongoing commitment to the Boston area, a hotbed of talent for critical roles in consumer products, digital health, data science, analytics and marketing,” said Alex Vannoni, vice president of operations and strategy, CH&S. “As we expand our presence, we will continue to explore ways to collaborate with Massachusetts-based companies and institutions that are driving health care innovation in today’s knowledge economy.”
Aetna is partnering with Elkus Manfredi Architects to design the new space.
“Massachusetts is home to the country’s leading life sciences and digital health companies, and we are pleased to welcome Aetna’s expansion in the MetroWest region,” said Governor Charlie Baker. “The Commonwealth’s highly educated and skilled workforce is an asset for communities and companies like Aetna who share our interest in making Massachusetts an even greater place to live, work, run a business and raise a family.”
Expansion plans will not be impacted by the pending transaction with CVS Health, which is expected to close in the second half of 2018.
