In a recent response to President Donald Trump's executive order regarding essential medicines, the Association for Accessible Medicines highlighted the importance of generic and biosimilar medicines for ensuring the health and well-being of U.S. residents.

A statement from the organization emphasizes the importance of the diversification of the pharmaceutical supply chain, and their continuing efforts to advocate for increasing the production capacity for generic and biosimilar medicines in the U.S.

“The pharmaceutical supply chain has demonstrated its resilience during the pandemic by responding to unprecedented demand with strategies that ensure uninterrupted access to essential medicines for millions of patients," Jeff Francer, Association of Accessible Medicines interim CEO, said.

"Without addressing the undervaluation of generic and biosimilar medicines in the U.S. with sustainable market supply plans, we simply cannot secure the domestic market and supply chain with scale and sustainability,” he said.
