The Food and Drug Administration announced Fresh Express is recalling limited numbers of its Caesar Supreme kit over concerns of E. coli STEC 026 contamination, according to a press release.

The company has reported zero cases of illnesses tied to the product.

The voluntary recall specifically hones in on expired 10.5 oz. Fresh Express Kit Caesar Supremes with a use-by date of Nov. 8. At this time, no other Fresh Express products have been recalled due to E. coli contamination. While it is unlikely that the contaminated product is still on store shelves, the company opted to recall what remained of it out of an abundance of caution, according to the FDA.

Exposure to E. coli STEC 026 can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pains and cramps as well as other severe illnesses. The standard recovery time for an infection is roughly one week but could last longer depending on symptoms.

Currently, the FDA recommends consumers to discard the product and not eat it if they do have it in their fridges. Fresh Express is issuing refunds for the product where customers can call the Fresh Express Consumer Response Center toll free at (800) 242-5472 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. EST. Refunds can also be granted if the items are taken to the original purchase location.
