PeformRx said on Tuesday that it is launching HealthNHandSM, a personalized digital mobile platform that is aimed at improving medication-regimen adherence for asthma patients.

"Through HealthNHand, we are able to meet members where they are -- on their smartphones and other devices -- with programs that they, themselves, can customize,” Karen Dale, market president of AmeriHealth District of Columbia, said. “It’s an innovative way to extend our care management and empower members with a tool to help them manage their own care."

HealthNHandSM was developed in conjunction with the health care technology company MEMOTEXT and will be first offered to members of AmeriHealth District of Columbia.

HealthNHandSM users receive reminders to take their asthma medications. The mobile platform also includes questionnaires about users' health status. Information from the questionnaires is used to create targeted support, personalized information and daily air quality forecasts. The purpose of the personalized information is to help asthma patients become more engaged in their own care.

A recent study by Mobile Future showed that medical text message reminders to patients can raise medicine regimen adherence by 10 percent. Mobile future predicts that by 2018, the mobility health care industry’s connectivity could save $36 million in health care costs in the U.S.

"PerformRx develops products and services that transform patients' experiences by meeting their needs with excellence in clinical services and now wireless digital health tools, which dramatically improve health outcomes, as well as reduce health care costs," PerformRx President Mesfin Tegenu said.
