Georgia Department of Community Health Names new chief of Georgia Medicaid

Linda Wiant was named the Georgia Department of Community Health's new chief of the Medical Assistance Plans Division on Monday.
Department commissioner Clyde Reese III announced the appointment, which will become effective March 16.
"I believe Linda has the temperament, experience, perspective and approach to be a strong and effective leader of Georgia's Medicaid program in this critical era of transformation of our nation's health care system,” Reese said. “I am confident in her ability to work under the leadership of Gov. (Nathan) Deal and my direction to shepherd the program into the future. I appreciate her willingness to assume this important role."
Wiant has more than 20 years of experience in managed care pharmacy, with an extensive background in Medicaid and Medicaid Managed care environments.
Since 2011, Wiant has been the pharmacy director for the department's Division of Medical Assistance plans. As pharmacy director she oversees the Fee-for-Service program, the Drug Rebate Program and vendor, the prior authorization program and budget responsibilities. While overseeing these programs for Medical Assistance Plans members, Wiant implemented program and process improvements.
Wiant has also held positions at Affiliated Computer Systems, Prudent Rx and Gold Standard.
